Fred Holz is a licensed PE with over 30 years’ experience in engineering, development and construction. Fred’s career spans roles as a design level engineer, a senior role with a national builder and work for the Bureau of Reclamation involved in federal government construction in the Sacramento region. Fred has also had leadership roles (including ownership level) in professional engineering firms where he has directly managed a staff of 125 people. Most recently, Fred held a senior position with a California-based general contractor focused on major federal government infrastructure projects across the country. This recent role, at Ahtna Design Build, included an identical business model to 29th Street Capital, where he managed complex design review and oversight, subcontractor bidding, securing contract awards (including contracting with subs) and subcontractor oversight involved in major infrastructure projects at disparate locations around the country with a wide variety of subcontracted work. Fred brings direct experience with horizontal plan value engineering and constructability reviews, relationships with local/regional/national civil construction subcontractors, and, like Jeff Brown (VP Of Construction Management), deep experience in managing successful bid and subcontractor selection, contracting and management processes. During his time at D.R. Horton, Fred was directly involved with the architectural design, bidding and construction management of 450 attached townhomes and 1,500 attached tri-plex multifamily units. Fred has directly managed projects with multiple subcontractors up to $170M in value. Over his career, Fred has worked on multiple multifamily projects (4,000+ units) in the Southeast, West Coast, and Pacific Northwest. These projects have included multi-unit apartments, high rise condominiums and townhome products.
Fred holds two bachelor’s of science degrees in engineering: Geotechnical from the New Mexico Institute of Science and Technology and Civil from the University of New Mexico.
